Cling to the promises
Over the last several days, we have looked at the promises of God. We must remember to cling to these promises through the storms of addiction. The enemy wants us to run away from those promises because he knows the unconditional comfort and healing we get from God.
1. God will never leave you (or your loved one).
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV
2. God will always protect you (and your loved one).
“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3 ESV
3. God will give you (and your loved one) strength for every battle.
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 ESV
4. God will give you (and your loved one) the graces necessary to endure all suffering.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.2 Corinthians 12:9
5. God will never stop loving you (or your loved one).
“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19
Do not let your life's busyness, chaos, and storms take you away from God’s promises.
“The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.” Psalm 145:9
