An Unexpected Encounter

DAN 1 OD 5

Jesus is always looking for us

In John 4:8-9 we read about the encounter between Jesus and a Samaritan woman.

I love this story!

I love that it is Jesus who approaches the woman. He takes the first step to start a conversation with her. He knows her story and every aspect of her life and, still, he reaches out and seeks her out to change everything.

God is always looking for the moment to have an encounter with us. That's why he draws near us, to take us to the place where he wants us to be.

It is never too late to allow him to find us.

You may have lived many years and think that there are no more things to transform in you, but God always finds more to mold. Just give him his place and let him be God.

Along the way, you may get lost and stray, but he will always be in control. Ezekiel 34:11-12 says that God looks for and cares for his children, just as a shepherd does for his flock of sheep. If we get lost, he will look for us, but he will also make sure we agree to let him find us. He does not want us to be forced to let him come in. He gives us space and time to create an environment of trust.

We must not forget that his grace is greater than our mistakes, greater than any storm or difficulty we may experience. Although we may feel far from God at times, this is never the case. He always draws near to our broken parts.

It is good to remember that there is nothing that can separate us from his love. There is nothing that can drive God away or frighten him away—not even our worst mistake. He knows us and still loves us. He knows our suffering, our doubts, and our challenges and He also knows what our heart longs for.

He wants to have an encounter with us, but the question is: Are we willing to have a date with him?

Prayer: Lord, starting today I want to live with an attitude of surrender before you. I want to have an encounter with you and give you room to transform my life. I am thankful that you are a God who is near. I invite your presence. Amen.
