How to Survive the Storms of LifeUzorak
God Promises a Safe Landing, Not a Smooth Journey
“When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” (Acts 14:21-22)
Jesus does not promise His followers that their lives will be easy. On the contrary, they will have to endure “many tribulations”. The Bible speaks honestly about this. Storms are part of the Christian life. Some problems are caused by Satan, who does everything in his power to harm God's Kingdom. In addition, many believers experience opposition from people around them — and Satan can be behind that too. And as we saw yesterday, sometimes God also gives setbacks to teach us valuable lessons. But Jesus assures us that no one can snatch us out of His hand (John 10:27-28). He will be with us in the storms of life and bring us safely into His Kingdom. Nothing in the world can separate us from Him.
A hymn by Stuart Townend and Keith Getty sings about this:
In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
