Heart for His HouseUzorak
Day 5
The Future Inheritance of the House
Ps Matt Rau
Christians are always looking forward to the future. And with all that's promised in the Word, it makes a lot of sense that we'd be excited about it. Others may place more value in their past or their present reality, but Christians are always biased towards the future hope that awaits us.
We're like a kid on Christmas Eve. We can taste the joy that we're about to experience in the morning every hour of the night!
The Apostle Peter reminds us that we have a heavenly inheritance that is more in reach every single day, and it is this future inheritance that should powerfully shape our hearts and actions in our everyday decisions.
Our Church has a laser focus on the future. We want nations of the world to be born again by the powerful saving work of Jesus Christ. We want the eternal destiny of others changed so all will learn the mercy of God through our ministry. We want our city to experience God!
Our investment into the Heart for His House offering is more of an inheritance that we're providing for people in the future that we may never meet. We are participating in a symbolic act of providing an inheritance for a future generation. While our finances and temporary buildings are absolutely nothing compared to the eternal life that awaits us, we can experience the smallest taste of the joy God has in providing a future home for us!
Let's match the future focus of our hearts through faith in Jesus Christ with a future focus in our actions by providing for the future house of God in our city. While the fruit of our efforts will eventually lead to a building that decays and needs maintenance, we know we're participating in something eternally significant.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to remember the inheritance of eternal life. Let its reality shape my actions and decisions each day. I thank you for the part I get to play in building a future house for others to experience your grace just like I have. Amen.
