Behold: The Promise

DAN 3 OD 5

Water in Unexpected Places

Isaiah 35:5-6 NIV

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened

and the ears of the deaf unstopped.

Then will the lame leap like a deer,

and the mute tongue shout for joy.

Water will gush forth in the wilderness

and streams in the desert.

There’s so many promises here of healing and miracles, and there’s no denying that this prophecy is anticipating Jesus Christ and the work of salvation for all our lives! I particularly love the imagery and promise “Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert." These are unexpected places for water and streams to be breaking forth! They are dry, barren, isolated landscapes. And yet the promise is that water will arise from and fill those areas.

One way to apply this prophecy is at a macro level. Society in general has a lot of dry, wilderness and desert areas when we look with natural eyes at the brokenness, injustices and pain in the world today. But instead of getting angry and complaining about it, what if we began to believe, speak out and pray this prophetic scripture? ”...Waters will break forth!".  Streams of God’s love, God’s power, God’s Spirit will come to our nations!

On a personal level, we all have “wilderness” and “desert” areas in our lives. These are the dry, barren, fruitless, isolated, cracked or broken areas of our heart, our thinking and our emotions. The places where shame, insecurities, hurt and disappointment live. God wants to come into those wilderness areas with living water! He wants to break-forth with His grace and healing power into these places.

We so often try to hide these areas, cover them over or press on despite them, but God’s love is too great toward us to look over them. He desires to enter into these very areas of brokenness and transform them. The water of His Spirit brings cleansing, power and life for every unexpected part of who we are.

Behold - Healing!

What’s a ‘wilderness’ area in your life? God sees it, and loves you so much that He wants to turn it into a place of redemption, healing and life.

Behold: The Promise

The word “BEHOLD” in Hebrew simply means interjection (an exclamation, an interruption). It is an unapologetic shout, saying, “LOOK HERE! SEE NOW! The promise is coming to pass!”. Our desire is to stir up faith in women that they would remember the promise, or see the new promise, and perceive it coming to pass. Written by Ps Megan Halvorsen.
