Relationships According to the Book of Ruth Uzorak
DAY 17: Stick to Your Decisions.
Making decisions is an essential part of life. Sticking to them is just as essential.
Ruth came to a crossroads in her life after her husband passed away. She is now confronted with either going back to her homeland and moving back in with family or staying with her mother-in-law. Naomi, her mother-in-law, urges her and her sister-in-law, Orpha, to move back to where they came from. Orpha does what is suggested, but Ruth does not.
The famous words by Ruth resonate, “your people will be my people, your God will be my God”.
Ruth declares her decision out loud. She knows that this decision will impact her life greatly. She understands that this decision carries the weight of her future, and she commits.
Ruth is stuck by her decision to follow her mother-in-law to a foreign land, where God takes her on a great journey of endurance and faith and the ultimate redemption of her family.
Because Ruth stuck to her decision, we don’t just see the lives of the two men redeemed, but we see the birth of a son, Obed, who is the grandfather of David and the lineage of Jesus, their and our messiah.
