Reset My Joy

It’s okay. You can admit it. Sometimes following Jesus isn’t fun.

We talk about being ready to die and humbly laying down your life, and you might be thinking, “Wow, is this really worth it?!”

But Jesus wasn’t a “doom and gloom” preacher. He also understood the power of a good party. The sinners were gathering around Jesus, and the Pharisees were getting mad. “Not this again,” they grumbled.

Jesus in response tells three stories, all of them about celebration. He says that when one person decides to follow Jesus, there’s literally a party in heaven!!

Jesus has said some pretty tough stuff, so why do you think there’s a party?

There’s a party because it means someone got it. Someone understood for the first time that everything this world can offer pails in comparison with knowing Jesus. Yes—life is hard—but in the end there will be such a party that we won’t even care!

Today if you’re feeling down, ask Jesus to reset your joy.
