DAY 15 OF 21

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

During my growing up years, we had many different dogs. One dog in particular was very unique. It was part German shepherd and part wolf. Of course we named him Bear! One of the few responsibilities that I was given in our home was to feed the dog each evening. He was an outside dog so I would go to his house, which was a few dozen yards from ours, to take him carry-out. I was Uber Eats before its time.

It wasn’t a problem for me until it started getting darker sooner. We lived in the country and it was very dark. I was scared of getting attacked by a bear (not the dog) or something worse. Before going out, I would ask my mom to stand at the kitchen window to watch over me. I ran as fast as I could to accomplish the task and back into the safety of our home. As I went, I would look back over my shoulder to make sure that she was there. As long as I could see her, I knew that she was watching over me and that I was safe, strong and secure.

Thinking back over those moments, it seems a bit silly. Why was I so full of fear? I felt completely paralyzed unless someone was watching over me! Truth is, I still feel that way today. Life can be scary and a spirit of fear can still try to come over me! When it does, I remind myself that God is always watching over me and Jesus is with me by His Spirit. I can live in freedom.

Declare Today - "God is always watching over me so I will not fear. I will walk in freedom!"
