Don’t Be Deceived
Have you ever been deceived? Like you went to bite into that beautiful Oreo cookie just to realize it was an off-brand inferior product. It’s the worst feeling! You just want to spit it out of your mouth. I used to buy a lot of my iPhone charging cables for really cheap from random sellers and they would break instantly. I learned my lesson that just because it looks like a legit charger, does not mean it can compete with the real thing. Well Satan’s goal is to deceive you, to offer you an inferior product in hopes that you will be ok settling for it.
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction” (2 Peter 2:1). The enemy is going to try and sneak his lies into our lives. And he will do it “secretly.” He’s not going to march into our lives going, “here’s today’s lie! I hope you enjoy it.” He will wrap it up in all sorts of ways, mixing in scripture taken out of context, using words that sound super Christian, and other things too. His whole goal is to draw us away from the truth of God’s Word.
There is good news though! If we hold strong to the truth, “then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment” (2 Peter 2:9). God can and will deliver us. We look to Him and trust Him and He will reveal the deceptions to us. We will be able to discern what is truly of Him and the fake Oreos the enemy is trying to give us.
