Joy In His Promises
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!” Luke 1:41-42
It’s a pretty amazing feeling to learn that, as a child of God, you are “blessed.” To know that God has blessed you with a unique calling or a beautiful gift perfectly made just for you.
Mary was blessed with the calling to be Jesus’ mother. Elizabeth was blessed with a child, despite her old age, and she felt His favor when Mary showed up at her house.
Jesus’ birth brought joy to the world, not just because of His birth, but because of the promises He fulfilled. What makes this story extra special is how Mary, after receiving her blessing, hurried to share it with Elizabeth.
There is joy in sharing your blessing with others, in talking to the people you love about the promises you’re seeing come to fruition.
It is important to have people who encourage you, and who can confirm the greatness God has put inside of you. Whether that is a spouse, a family member, a good friend, or a trusted figure in your life, the right people will lift you up.
When Elizabeth gave birth, scripture says “Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy.”
Place yourself around some people who can confirm God’s promises over you and share in your joy.
God, thank You that You will fulfill every promise to me just as You did for Mary and Elizabeth. Please bring the right people into my life and give me the discernment to know who to grow closer to and who to let go. Thank you for all You do for me. Amen.
