What Are You Thankful For?Uzorak
Every year is loaded with new challenges. The year, 2020 came with a pandemic that changed how we do and perceive life. Loved ones died, many lost their jobs, and several unexpected events occurred. Despite all, God wants us to “be thankful in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). He also wants us to believe that he works all things for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28).
The COVID-19 pandemic brought me unplanned challenges; I suddenly had to resign from my workplace, homeschooling was added to my daily schedule, and I contracted COVID while pregnant. I refused to murmur and maintained an attitude of thanksgiving by counting my blessings daily. I believed and still believe what is written in Romans 8:28. I know my circumstances could have been worse. So, being thankful is worth it.
The Thanksgiving table may be different this year; yet, we can find one reason to be thankful.
A loved one may no longer be with us; yet, we can be thankful for good memories.
We may not have accomplished all we set out to do this year; yet, we can be thankful for life.
Being thankful in difficult times is not toxic positivity. It is therapeutic. The God who formed our innermost being (Psalm 139:13) said we should be thankful in all circumstances because he knows it would benefit us. Every instruction God gives to us is for our own good (1 John 5:3).
