In college, I went through a season of life where I felt like God abandoned me. I was struggling with so many things all at the same time, for the first time in my life. I felt like God had left me to deal with it on my own. What really happened was a similar situation that is described in this passage. The son leaves the Father. One thing that sticks out to me the most is that the Father is in the same place the whole time. No matter what lifestyle we are living or what we are struggling with, God is always going to be in the same place. He is never moving around, or leaving us. God is the most consistent thing we have in this life. The father in Luke didn’t leave. He was waiting for the son to come back to him. In your tough seasons, God won’t abandon you. Maybe you just have to turn back to Him and go back to His open arms.
Do you need to turn back to the open arms of God?
Have you been through a season similar to the first son in this passage?
If not, have you ever found yourself in the second sons’ place?
