Through the ChaosUzorak
Last year my family took a trip to Chicago. We remembered everything except our stroller. Since we were doing a lot of sightseeing my husband ended up carrying our daughter quite a bit.
She did so good but eventually each walk resulted in her being carried and one particular time she fell right to sleep after a long day at the aquarium.
I kept looking at them and couldn’t shake that God has been constantly reminding me to rest in Him like Amelia has rested in her daddy’s arms.
It seems that these days being overwhelmed is worn as a badge of honor and rest is portrayed as an elusive idea for so many.
Let’s take a big deep breath together and remember that we were never meant to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders.
No matter how many responsibilities we have we cannot forget that we are human and can only do the best we can with what we have. It is God’s job to multiply our efforts and I believe He will do that if we live a life of surrender rather than control.
His yoke is easy and His burden is light. His peace is available for us all!
I know- I get it. You’re tired of hearing “lay it all at His feet” because you think you do that and still feel anxious. Is that you?
Try and do this for me. Make a list of what you need to lay down. Close your eyes and tell Him what you’d like Him to take from you. Then imagine yourself in the arms of the Father just like my sweet girl as she was carried through the streets of Chicago.
Let Him not only carry your burdens but carry YOU. Find safety and rest in His arms today, my friends!
Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for carrying me when I need it the most. Thank you for taking my load and allowing me to experience the feeling of true surrender. Help me hold this posture and not pick up those burdens again. In your precious name, Amen.
