DAN 8 OD 8

Paul

READY

“So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.” Acts 9:31 NLT

SET

When you go to a bible study, do you go to “sit and get,” or to “grow and go make?” When a football team huddles together, they don’t just stay together, they break to their position and go play out the call.

One of the greatest examples of gathering to go and make is the story of Paul. He wrote most of the New Testament. But, before he preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he was a leader in killing believers.

Paul’s big change begins when Jesus speaks to him on the road to Damascus. But Jesus did not just leave Paul there alone. The Lord spoke to a disciple named Ananias and told him to go to Paul. Despite Ananias’ fears, he obeyed the Spirit.

After this, we see in Acts 9:20 that Paul was with the community of believers in Damascus and then later gathered with the apostles in Jerusalem. Luke then records, “And when the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus” (Acts 8:31). This gathering and then sending of the followers, started a huge Gospel movement among the regions.

So, like the original disciples and apostles, we must listen and obey the Spirit, gather in community, and then go from those communities to share the Gospel and make disciples.

GO

  1. Are you a part of a community of believers?
  2. How will you help your group become a “gather to go and make” community?

WORKOUT

  • Acts 2:2-7
  • Romans 10:14-15

OVERTIME

“Lord, I thank You for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Please send me out to make disciples for your glory. I pray for strength and boldness to respond in obedience to Your Word and command to make disciples.”
