Grow Where You're Planted
My Dad would always tell me “Kiddo you just need to grow where you're planted and just bloom in the season you’re in.” I don’t proclaim that I have a green thumb, but I do know a few things about planting flowers and sowing seeds. Every Spring, I generally plant a new batch of flowers in my flowerbed. Some annuals that will only grow during the Summer and some perennials that will come back every year. Several Summers ago, I went to the home improvement store and I bought this beautiful purple plant with lavender colored flowers. It wasn’t labeled and was on clearance so I said what the heck, if it dies, I will at least enjoy it for a season. Surprisingly, it has been coming back every year with more flowers than the previous year. This reminds me of how we should be when we are either in a blooming season or a pruning season.
Sometimes life is hard. Things don’t always go according to plan. Even in less than wonderful situations, we have control over how we respond. Blooming where we are planted is to make the choice to respond in a positive manner. There are times to bloom where we are planted and times for us to be transplanted so we can bloom even better elsewhere. Just follow the Lord where He leads you.
Prayer: Lord, You know the season I’m in and the season I’m entering. Help me stay connected to You and rooted in Your word so I can grow and flourish in my due season, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
