Ephesians: How to Love Like JesusUzorak
Devotional:
Ephesians was written by Paul to the church at Ephesus in around 60 AD. Paul was in prison in Rome at the time of writing this letter. He wrote Ephesians as an encouragement to the church — using the first half of his letter to share the work that God had done, and the second half to instruct the church on how to live in response to God’s actions. In this first passage of scripture, we see Paul greet the church, identify himself as an apostle of Jesus, and offer grace and peace to those in the church. He praises God and explains how we came to be part of God’s family. This passage is an introduction to the plan of God and the love we received when we were reconciled with Him.
Questions:
- Paul first introduces himself as “an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God.” How do you introduce yourself when meeting someone for the first time? How long does it take for your faith to enter the conversation? What would it look like for you to introduce yourself like Paul?
- In verse 4, Paul says that “He [God] chose us in him.” How does it feel to know you were chosen by the Creator of the universe to be right with Him?
- We have been chosen by God and get to spend eternity with Him. But many still do not know Jesus and His grace. How can you share the grace of God and the love of Jesus with those who don’t yet know Him? How can you bring them closer to Him?
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for Your Word. As I explore the book of Ephesians, help me to hear from You, grow in my faith, and bring You glory. Help me to boldly share Your love and grace with those who don’t yet know You. Amen.
