SAY WHAT? (What is the passage saying?)
- In this chapter, Luke tells us about the most significant event in history: the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus raises from the dead and then makes appearances to multiple people to prove he is alive. He also explains why he had to die and raise from the dead.
SO WHAT? (What are the underlying principles?)
- Death was not final for Jesus, and it's not final for his followers. Because Jesus rose from the dead, we don’t have to fear death. When we pass on from the earth, we can be confident that God will give us new life with him in heaven.
- Because of the resurrection, Jesus has the power to free us from sin. And not just the suffering our sin creates, but also from choosing sin in our lives. We will never be perfect in this life, so don't judge others, but through God’s love and Jesus' power through the Holy Spirit, we can become more like him. Jesus' followers are in the process of becoming people who love like Jesus did.
NOW WHAT? (How will you personally apply this passage?)
- The resurrection of Jesus changes everything. So think about this: What has it changed in your life? What should it change? When will you allow it to change you as it should?
