Love One Another
John 13:34, 35
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this will all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Our testimony to the world is the evidence that Jesus’ love is being expressed through our lives. The love of Christ was demonstrated in consistent forgiveness despite personal betrayal and rejection. This love washed others’ feet and served them in the most simple of ways. In calling them to demonstrations of love, Jesus was shifting the focus of witness from theological debates to ethics and lifestyle. Sacrificial love is now defined for all history by Christ’s willingness to die for the sins of the world. His love moved him to act with actions that restored and healed others. We are called to live the same way!
Lord Jesus, I yield to your love and invite you to fill me with your spirit so that I too can love others the way you have loved me.
