How To Experience HealingUzorak
The Role of Medicine
Some people sincerely believe that by taking medicine and accepting treatment from a doctor they are somehow failing to exercise faith in God’s Word, and thereby displeasing Him. Not so. The Bible says, ‘Whatever is good…is a gift coming down to us from God our Father” (James 1:17). Healing, in whatever form, is good and comes to us from God.
Throughout the Old and New Testaments, we see proof of this principle. God gave Ezekiel a vision of a life-giving river, on the banks of which were trees and “the leaves for healing” (Ezekiel 47:12). Jeremiah lamented over the spiritual condition of God’s people, saying, “Is there no medicine in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why is there no healing for the wounds of my people?” (Jeremiah 8:22). Luke, one of Christ’s disciples, was a doctor. Paul told Timothy, “Use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities” (1 Timothy 5:23).
One modern-day pastor, who had Stage 4 cancer, struggled with accepting chemotherapy treatment. He explains, “I thought that by refusing treatment I was standing in faith. But it turned out that for me, it was pride…many people of God have gone home to glory while refusing medical treatment, thinking they were standing in faith. They missed God’s healing for them because they wouldn’t humble themselves to receive on another level.”
If you are struggling with the decision over when to receive medical treatment, and when to stand only on God’s Word, prayerfully consider stepping out in faith, and doing BOTH!
