DAY TWO: Head Knowledge Vs. Heart Knowledge
The seat of saving faith is the heart. It is when head knowledge drops into the heart.
When Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, his hearers were “cut to the heart” (Acts 2:37). He was able to preach like that because he had more of God than he had before the falling of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. He knew a lot about God after hearing Jesus speak countless times over the previous three years. Such knowledge about God did not keep him from denying the Lord three times (John 18:17, 25–27). But after the coming of the Spirit, Peter was a different man.
The heart must be engaged after conversion. All teaching about more of God will be mere theological if it stimulates only the mind.
Don’t settle for more mere information about God or more theological knowledge. Don’t settle for cerebral stimulation about divine things. Give yourself no rest until you cross over the crucial line from secondhand knowledge about God to firsthand knowledge of God. And when you come into this realm, you will be conscious of how real the God of the Bible is. There is nothing more exciting than when you see for yourself that God is real, Jesus is real, the Holy Spirit is real, and the Bible is true!
