Avoiding Folly

There is a time and season for every activity. Ask for the wisdom to order your activities according to God’s agenda.

In one of his parables Jesus describes five bridesmaids as ‘foolish’. The difference between them and their wise companions centres around the quantity of oil they carried with them. Whatever the oil may be said to represent, the result is that the five wise bridesmaids could adjust to the bridegroom’s timing. Wisdom includes an awareness of God’s timing and a willingness to match his pace, even when this feels like delay.
