Riding Solo: Life to the Full Minus Your Plus-OneShembull
He can do all… yep, even that!
God created light out of the power of his voice and decision.
God has the power to create life from dust.
God has the power to raise Jesus from the dead.
God has the power to overturn entire Kingdoms.
Yet, we often don't connect His power with our romantic status. But God’s power and greatness apply to all of our lives. Yet still, we say things like...
- “It’s really hard to meet someone romantically; I am an introvert.”
- “My church has seven times more women than men; the stats are against me.”
- “I don’t make a great first impression; I will never meet someone.”
- “Christians guys/girls can be so awkward. There is no hope.”
God is not stuck. He is not desperately searching the Earth trying to find a spouse for you, limited by the Christians out there who are ‘your type.’ Take heart in knowing there are no complicated logistics or destinations too far for God. Look at how easily He created light.
The fact that He can and has not is a comfort, not a curse.
I am going to write that one more time. God allowing you to be single today is a COMFORT, NOT A CURSE.
That means if you take a little break from dating, it’s ok; you’re not going to miss out on the person God planned for you. It also means if you have just started dating and feel overwhelmed by the choice, it’s ok to go slow and steady. There’s no rush.
God’s greatness and power apply to all situations. Embrace the gift of knowing God can do all. He’s on your team!
Take a few minutes to meditate on the power of God, the creator, the Alpha and the Omega.
After meditating on the fact that God can do ALL things, consider the questions below -
- Knowing God can do all things, how do you feel about being single?
- What’s one thing you can do today to embrace where God has you fully?

Two-for-one cinema tickets; buy-one-get-one-free pizza deals: the world can seem prone to partnership. Yet God’s plan for us isn't hindered by a missing plus-one. In fact, He loves it! Whether you’re growing weary or bright-eyed about dating, our perspective of being single can hugely affect our journey. It's time to align with God’s word and let Him take the wheel.
