Be Still: 15 Days With God Shembull
COME TO ME
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. MATTHEW 11:28
Jesus gives true rest, and the invitation is to all. He says come to the poor, the humble, the small, and the weak. His call is also to the proud, the great, the rich, and the mighty. Sadly, they are usually so filled with their own ways they do not see His hand at work or His bounty of love. You will find rest for your souls as you humble yourself under His mighty hand. It is a universal call where humility is the motive.
We read how He is near to the brokenhearted and humble throughout the Bible. And even when trials and tribulations do come, how they are meant to produce humility in us so that we realize we are not in control. We don’t have it all together.
We have shielded ourselves from all manner of things with our success and fame, yet we still have heartache with family, health, and unforeseen things we did not anticipate. Because we are not God. When you humble yourself, the Lord will be there to give you true rest.

"Be still, and know that I am God;" (PSALM 46:10a). Many Christians are familiar with this verse, but do we really understand it? This exhortation applies when we are distracted by our successes, as when we are fearful and disquieted by some troublesome news. We need to learn to quiet ourselves by opening God’s Word and gaining His perspective in both cases.
