Amazing God
Throughout Scripture, God establishes covenants with His people. These covenants are promises to redeem, restore, and bless the world. In return, God asks His people to trust Him, follow Him, and obey Him.
These covenant relationships often began well. But over time, the people of God would drift from trust and obedience, and rebel against God. God’s people splintered into different kingdoms, smattered with awful kings, and gained a reputation for looking everywhere except God. Yet time after time, God upheld the promises of deliverance and redemption to an unfaithful people.
Through Jesus, we find God fulfilling His promise to bless. Jesus chose a servant’s life. He cared for the marginalized, accepted the outcast, and liberated those in sin through forgiveness. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords would stop at nothing to make the forgiveness of sin available to everyone–even if it meant dying on the cross.
But the story doesn’t end here. When the lifeless body of Jesus was laid to rest, darkness snuffed out any remaining light. Three days into the darkness, the Holy Spirit invaded that quiet tomb and breathed life into Jesus’ lifeless body. And what was once the emblem of suffering and shame has become healing and liberation to all who would believe.
The enormous sum of who God is and what He has done is AMAZING.
But get this, the best is yet to come.
God is returning! When He does, He will put back together what sin has torn apart. He will make all things new and establish the rule and reign of His eternal Kingdom - a Kingdom with no sin, shame, pain, or death.
So, what should we do in response to our AMAZING God?
Trust our AMAZING God for what He has done.
Worship our AMAZING God for who He is.
Hope in our AMAZING God for what is yet to come.
Reflect:
How does remembering how God has been faithful in the past help you trust him today?
What about God leads you to acknowledge that he is amazing and worthy of praise?
