Navigating Pregnancy Loss & Trying to Conceive: A 5-Day PlanShembull
With progress as slow as it is, it’s easy to wonder if it even matters. If the everyday moments—the small things leading up to the big reveal—even matter.
Rest assured, they do.
Brick by brick, day after day, the everyday moments are critical to the construction of a growing tower of milestones—of progress—that you hope and pray will be completed with the one moment you’ve been waiting for. The safe arrival of your baby. Friend, I know it’s hard to be enthusiastic about much of anything when you’re standing in the "not yet." How can you when you know the big moment you’re waiting for might not come? When you aren’t sure if your pregnancy will end with life or death?
I understand.
It takes courage to allow yourself to celebrate the right now—whether that’s a positive pregnancy test, a weekly milestone, a kick, the powerful sound of a little heartbeat, the release to a lower level of care because pregnancy is going well, or the simple yet complicated fact that your baby is still here in a pregnancy that’s progressing. Because you know it doesn’t guarantee a favorable outcome. But allowing yourself to observe and honor these moments while your baby is still under construction creates space to breathe, hope, and praise God for what you do know rather than focusing solely on what you don’t.
Even when scared, your faith gives you the power to set aside timidity, to celebrate in some small way the milestones of right now, even when your heart is steeped in resistance. It allows you to display the deep love for your baby through action, even if that action is small or unrecognizable to others.
Prayer
God, thank you for these moments. Help me to savor these milestones by recognizing how precious they are. I pray for the courage to walk toward the arrival of my baby with faith, hope, and love in action. Amen.
