The Cost of Reconciliation
I know firsthand how difficult forgiveness can be in a relationship.
It’s hard coming to grips with the pain of what’s been done to you and then feeling like, by forgiving the offender, you’re letting them off the hook.
But choosing forgiveness isn’t saying the hurtful action was okay, nor does it bypass the reality of grief. In reality, forgiveness isn’t for the other person at all. Forgiveness is for us. And its effects are not the tolerance of injustice but the presence of freedom.
The question is: Are you willing to put down the pride, resentment, anger, frustration or grudge you feel and forgive to step into freedom?
It’s easier said than done. Trust me. I’ve been there several times. It doesn’t come without a cost, and it’s a decision you might have to make daily. But there is always a benefit to it. And I know from personal experience you’ll never regret it.
Personal Reflection
Is there someone you need to forgive today? A friend, family member, even yourself? Let God breathe His peace and grace into your spirit and soul today as you choose to forgive.
