YOU CAN STAY UNDER GOD’S PROTECTION
As it has been said, the overall expression of a disciple’s humility is his submission to authority-- one’s willingness to be under cover. This topic is most neglected and most misunderstood, but one of the most important subjects. It can help or hinder reaching one’s fullest potential. A lot of Christians don't realize that a lot of their problems are not due to Satan's strength but simply due to their lack of covering.
God promises protection in Psalm 91:1-2, but notice that the attributes describing the Lord are all static or non-movable things. This describes God’s role in our protection and the benefits of His covering; while our role as receivers of Divine protection involve movement. It means this: the covering of the Lord is always available but we must recognize and stay under it. We need to seek it out! God's protection does not follow us anywhere we go. We must not assume that we are protected from Satan and his demons.
But not only is His protection available, but His favor as well.
Jesus considers it as great faith when we learn to submit ourselves to higher authority—His, above all. But there are also certain people God puts in authority over us in the natural. They represent His throne; they act as spheres of His protection. Here are four basic spheres. (Depending on the circumstances of a person, some can have more than four relevant spheres or less.)
• FAMILY: father
• GOVERNMENT: national leaders
• CHURCH: church leaders
• BUSINESS: employer
The people in authority whom God puts over us represent HIS THRONE in our lives, and because He is more interested in our hearts and our character, how we respond to the authorities that represent His throne is what counts.
Again, the over-all expression of humility is submission to authority. The world cannot be changed by a bunch of rebels who resist authority. What the world needs are revolutionaries who will pursue change but recognize and submit to the authority God has put over them. Are you a revolutionary?
