Day 12: Acts 22-Romans 3
Autumn Williams, Global Director at UPPERROOM
How has a revelation of Jesus changed you?
These chapters highlight the identity transformation Paul experienced after a dramatic encounter with the Lord. With one personal revelation of Jesus, Paul was fortified and fueled in his confidence and calling. Up until that point, he had built his life and career around practicing and upholding the law. Yet, when Jesus personally spoke to him, Paul yielded everything he had previously believed about God to this new revelation of Jesus.
Paul had to pivot from his upbringing to submit to the knowledge of the resurrected Messiah. He countered cultural norms and the expectations of his society (both the Jews and the Romans). And because he did not discount his supernatural experience, we still benefit today from his ministry.
We know Paul was confidently established as a new creation when he introduces himself in Romans 1 as “set apart.” His personal encounter with Jesus became the anchor of his identity and the thrust of his calling. His testimony brought forth the foundational truth we will continue to unpack over and over again as we journey through the New Testament: justification by faith in Jesus Christ.
Call to mind your personal encounters with the Lord. Remember where He has shown up supernaturally for you. Reflect on the times His word has birthed and fortified your new identity. Thank Him for the life and purpose that has flowed from knowing your identity in Him... it will bear fruit for generations to come.
