21 Days of Prayer & Fasting: Lectio DivinaChikamu
Preparation: Today, you’ll be reading from Luke 15:11-32. Before you get started, take a moment to be aware of God’s presence right where you are. He wants to speak to you today.
Read: The first step is to read. As you read the passage the first time, write down any words or phrases that stand out to you.
Reflect: This time, reflect on the passage. As you read a second time, notice what emotions come up within yourself. Identify yourself with a specific character in the story and make a note of that as well.
Respond: Now respond. As you reread the passage, listen for God’s voice speaking to you. What is He saying, and how do you need to respond to Him?
Rest: Finally, rest in God's presence. Many things may be fighting for your attention today, but take a few minutes to be still in silence as you meditate on God’s Word and rest in Him.
Pray: Take a moment to pray on your own or use this prayer as a guide:
Thank you, Lord, that I can be in your presence through Jesus. Thank you that I can call you Father. My entire identity is found in knowing that I am loved and accepted as your child. Thank you that I can always come back to you regardless of how far I might be and that I can always find you with your arms open, waiting for me. Help me remember throughout this day that I can walk with you. Help me listen to the voice of your Holy Spirit so I can continue to grow in my friendship with you. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen.
