Fear Is Not My Future | 21 Days of Prayer and FastingChikamu
Context: God has done a wonderful work writing about the Babylonian captivity through Isaiah 150 years before it took place. Can you imagine picking up the scroll of Isaiah while in Babylon and reading the promise given in this passage? Isaiah 40-66 is full of great promises for us to plead before the Lord as a demonstration of faith.
Content: God alerts us to the part the nations are playing in His plan. His people were taken to Babylon in 586 BC and Isaiah wrote this before 700 BC. In 41:1-4, God makes the promise that one is coming to bring Israel back to her land. God says “Whom He calls in righteousness to his feet” 41:2. Who is this one? It is King Cyrus and God concludes His prophesy in Is.45:1 when He names the man, 150 years before he is born, Cyrus King of Persia. In 41:5-10 we find God moving our hearts towards His greatness. The craftsman makes idols who can do nothing, but God chose Israel! Do you believe in the promises of God? God said that Israel is His servant, and they are called by God. 41:9 says, I have chosen you, you are My servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you.” What a promise to ponder when in captivity. Daniel was in Babylon in the court of the King. He lived out the promise of 41:10.
Promise: God says, “Do not fear for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely, I will help you, surely, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” None of us have ever faced the trial Israel faced in the Babylonian captivity! We can trust that God will meet us where we are and give us courage. This passage is about courage. Blessings!
