Revival in Communities
As Christians, we love the idea of revival—a room filled with worship, a community transformed, and the glory of God on full display. It’s inspiring to think about, but sometimes the thought of being a part of that revival can feel overwhelming. How are we supposed to reach everyone? How do we practically contribute to the mission of reaching our world for Christ?
In John 4, we see a powerful example of how revival begins with one person. Jesus meets a woman at a well, and through their conversation, He reveals His knowledge of her life and her struggles. As she realizes that He is the Messiah, she is so moved that she rushes back to her town to tell everyone what happened. Her personal encounter with Jesus leads to many others hearing the good news.
Revival doesn’t always start with large crowds—it starts with one person. The key to reaching our communities is to focus on the one. Each individual encounter with Jesus has the potential to spark a ripple effect that reaches countless others. Did you know that the average person meets around 80,000 different people in their lifetime? If just one of those encounters results in someone finding Jesus, that person will go on to influence their friends, family, and even future generations. The possibility for revival is endless.
We don't have to reach the entire world on our own; we simply need to focus on the one person God places in front of us. One conversation, one act of kindness, one prayer—these small moments can contribute to a greater movement. Revival can start with you, and it can start today, with the one person God has called you to reach.
Reflection Questions:
- Who is one person I can share the good news of Jesus with this week?
- How can I be more intentional in recognizing the opportunities God places before me to share His love?
- Am I playing my part in building the Kingdom of Heaven, or is there more I can do to engage with those around me?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the reminder that revival starts with one. Help me to see the opportunities around me to reach the one person You’ve placed in my path. Give me the courage and wisdom to share Your love and truth with those I encounter. I pray that my actions and words would reflect Your grace and that through them, others would come to know You. Lord, use me to play my part in the revival of my community, one person at a time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
