Dually Devoted – a Devotional for Bivocational Pastors and Leaders.

DAY 2 OF 14

Being Bivocational can both test and strengthen your faith. At times, you may feel incredibly strong, while at other moments, you might feel completely stretched. The key lies in how you approach and process each moment of your dual-role experience.

Daily spiritual efforts can be both exhausting and rewarding. One moment, you might focus on the unfair expectation of working outside the church, and the next, you might celebrate unexpected victories in evangelism and provision.

As Bivocational pastors, we can easily fall into the habit of resisting external pressures and expectations while neglecting our internal call to something greater. What if the process God has called us to actually deepens our Christlikeness? God’s inward call is not about submission but about courage and power.

Courage steps willingly into the uncomfortable and unfamiliar, knowing that great strength and endurance will result. Although Bivocational challenges can be unpleasant, they can also be turned into something beneficial. Instead of focusing on “what’s happening to me,” we should ask, “what is happening in me?”

Our choices reflect our faith, and our faith will always impact our ministry and service. If we get stuck on the challenges of Bivocational ministry, we miss opportunities for greater faith that can inspire more faith in others.

Accepting challenges, regardless of their weight and difficulty, builds resilience and spiritual strength. The dual calling is not for the weak but for those willing to let God bring about greater victories in character, integrity, and trust.
