The Same Spirit: Living the Vibrant Holy Spirit-Filled LifeChikamu
Abiding in the Same Spirit
Once you are filled by the Holy Spirit, do not expect to act as you once did. The way you relate to others will change. You will love, work, and play differently. Abiding in the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead means a fresh start, a clean slate. You are a new creature in Christ who has been washed white as snow by the blood of the Lamb, living in the power and freedom of God’s Spirit. Your life will never be the same!
When you abide in the Spirit, you will be anointed with God’s power to fulfill His purpose. The anointing is heaven’s authority upon your divine assignment. God’s presence enables you to occupy His promises and experience the supernatural. The anointing is God’s grace and glory empowering you through the gift of the Spirit.
In the Old Testament, when people were anointed, the oil was applied topically. Someone with authority would smudge olive oil on the forehead, or perhaps on the lips or over the heart, in recognition of their chosen designation. Whether a private moment between two individuals or a public ceremony viewed by countless others, an anointing was an event that tangibly displayed one’s favor with God and man.
Following Christ’s death and resurrection, and the arrival of the Holy Spirit, we are no longer anointed by oil on our physical bodies. Rather than from the outside in, we are anointed from the inside out. “The anointing you received from him remains in you” (1 John 2:27 niv).
Similarly, through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, you are anointed with fresh oil to advance into the plans that the Lord has for you. Your anointing is when the grace, gift, and glory of God inside of you come together, empowering you to experience the abundant power of heaven come to earth. When you abide in the power of the Spirit and live out your anointing, you speak the language of grace. Your speech, your attitude, and your actions communicate Christ in ways that not only change you but change the world around you.
From Genesis to Revelation and still today, we witness anointed people doing what others will not and cannot do. Anointed people do not whine—they worship. Anointed people do not focus on the darkness—they turn to the light. Anointed people do not make excuses—they make history.
Dear Lord, I am humbled by the gift of Your anointing in the Holy Spirit. Grant me patience to remain obedient so that I may grow in experience and be prepared when, in Your timing, I move into the next aspect of my anointing. I rely on Your power alone to carry out my anointing. Use me for Your purposes, God, to heal others, to overcome evil, to set captives free, and to point them to Your Son, Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
