At the end of every week, we'll give you a challenge—something to try that might be outside your regular routine. Each challenge is designed to help you develop one important spiritual habit. This week, it's...
SPEND TIME WITH GOD
There's no formula or one right way to spend time with God. Whether you already know how you like to spend time with God or you're still trying to understand how to hear God's voice, today's challenge will help you experiment with some new ways of connecting with God. Try it and see what you discover about God—and about yourself, too!
CHALLENGE
Often, our fears have more to do with what we hope the outcome will be (or won't be) of our actions than what's best for our lives and those around us. For this challenge, do something courageous with God's will in mind.
- CHOOSE SOMETHING THAT MAY BE INTIMIDATING. It could be trying a new hobby, going to a nursing home or hospital, or asking someone for forgiveness. Tell God why you're afraid or intimidated, and see what God says about it.
- PICK A TIME TO DO IT. As you consider what that thing might be for you, talk to God about it. The sooner you can do whatever the scary action is, the better. Get it on the calendar!
- TALK TO GOD ABOUT IT. Before you go, ask God to give you the courage to follow through. Consider what God's perspective of the situation might be. How is it different from your own? Go prepared with a short phrase or word you can repeat over and over to give you a boost of confidence.
- After, thank God for providing you with the necessary courage. Journal how you felt before, during, and after. Having your thoughts recorded is an empowering way to encourage yourself in the future when another scary opportunity comes along.

An amusement park ride can spark joy or leave you feeling scared. This can be true in life, too, so how can we learn to overcome our feelings of fear whenever we experience them? In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll look at stories from the Bible, where people trusted God in difficult moments and see how God is with us in every situation.
