Not What I Signed Up ForChikamu
Trust the Opportunity in Front of You
Reflection:
Unexpected circumstances are opportunities to experience God’s redemptive work in your life. While it can be tempting to try to figure out whether your painful season is a result of your wrong decisions (If only I’d had more wisdom, been stronger, made a different choice, etc., maybe I could have avoided this pain), God isn’t looking backward. He’s looking at what you’re doing in the present, and He may have opportunities for you to grow and leave behind false ways of believing, acting, or feeling that have been tugging you away from His truth.
There is hope for the future. Even when things are beyond your understanding, you are loved, God has a purpose for you, and He will never leave you.
Reflect on the good things that God has already done in your story. How has He shaped you, taught you, and reassured you of His faithfulness? Identify ways in which you feel hopeful of what is to come. Declare that God will use your story to comfort and encourage others.
God, help me to believe in Your goodness even when I am struggling to see what You are doing. Help me to seek reminders of Your faithfulness in my daily life and confess any false beliefs that have taken up residence in my heart. Thank You for being my redeemer. Thank you for having a redemptive purpose for my life.
