Testify With Kelontae Gavin

DAY 5 OF 7

"Testify" - I’ve Seen Too Much

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say, The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have now come, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been thrown down. They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; for they did not love their lives to the point of death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you with great fury, because he knows his time is short." - Revelation 12:10 - 12

Somethings in life you just naturally want to tell people about, right? If you see a movie you think is amazing, you want to tell your friends about it. If you eat a hot chicken sandwich at a new restaurant in town and think it’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten, you’re not going to keep quiet about that. You’re going to evangelize that hot chicken sandwich. You feel like you have to testify so other people can experience it too.

Now re-read Revelation 12:10 - 12.

We have an even better reason to testify than any movie or hot chicken sandwich. Satan, our accuser, has been thrown down by the power of Jesus’s blood on the cross and our personal testimony about that saving work. Every single person who trusts in Christ has ultimately conquered Satan—that’s something to talk about. Yes, he’s still at work in the world. Yes, you’ll still experience his fury. That’s because he knows his time is short. He knows you’ve seen too much to keep the gift of salvation in Christ to yourself, and he wants to keep you from spreading the word. He knows you’ve seen too much to keep the gift of salvation in Christ to yourself, and he wants to keep you from spreading the word.

Peter and John are a great example of how to handle our enemy’s schemes. They were testifying about Jesus’s gift of saving grace, and Satan threw a massive obstacle in their way. They were taken into custody and told not to speak about Jesus ever again. Did they stop? Nope. They said,“we are unable to stop speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). They’d seen too much. They’d been through too much. God had done so much that they had to testify. Will you?

1) Listen to Kelontae Gavin’s “Testify.” What lyrics stand out to you as particularly encouraging? Which stand out to you as most challenging?

2) How have you allowed the enemy to push you back from what God has called you to do? What can you do to fight against him?

3) Ask God to give you a heightened sense of awareness of the spiritual battle going on around you. Pray that you would recognize that Satan’s time is short, be courageous to resist him, and faithfully tell people about Jesus.
