Fruit of the SpiritChikamu
The Apostle Paul travelled from place to place sharing the good news about Jesus. Paul wrote letters to the new churches to teach them how to live their new life following Jesus. These letters were so important that we now read many of them as part of the New Testament.
In one of those letters, written to the community of churches in Galatia, Paul encourages followers of Jesus to live by the power of the Holy Spirit. And He reminds them not to follow their own selfish sinful nature.
We have a choice, we can choose to do things our own way, filled with our own selfish desires, or we can choose to be filled with God’s Spirit.
If you want to test what kind of Spirit is taking the lead in your life, look at the fruit. Is the fruit in your life jealousy, anger and bitterness? Or is it love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? We don’t get it right 100% of the time, we all have times when the fruit of our life doesn’t taste so good. That’s when we ask God’s Spirit to fill us, lead us and guide us.
