Kindness In The Little Things!
What does your favorite lunch box look like? Is it all sparkly? Does it have your favorite character on it? Today our Bible reading is about a boy who had his lunch with him. He probably didn’t have a cool lunch box, but what happened with his lunch was epic.
A huge crowd of people were around Jesus, and it was the time of day when people would be super hungry. Jesus asked His disciples where they could buy bread to feed all the people. They were surrounded by thousands of hungry people. The disciples didn’t think they could afford to feed everyone, and they didn’t know what to do. Then Andrew, one of the disciples, spoke up and said that there was a boy who had five small loaves of bread and two small fish.
Jesus took the time to do something amazing that day and teach us all a huge lesson. The boy gave what he had to Jesus, and Jesus took the five loaves of bread and two fish and fed the entire crowd.
Colossians 3:12 says, “As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” That day, the boy chose to show kindness. He took the little he had and gave it so that others could be fed. Look what Jesus did!
A lot of times we think that we must do big things to change the world. It feels like we have nothing to offer and so we do nothing. The reality is God doesn’t tell us to do everything, but He wants us to use what He has given us and allow Him to do the rest.
Because this little boy showed kindness by offering the little food he had, Jesus was able to do something big with it.
What is something that God has given you that He is telling you to use to show His kindness and love to those around you? What’s holding you back from handing it over to Jesus and saying, “I give it all to You, use what I have. It’s Yours.”?
Dear God, thank You for who You are in my life and for the things You have blessed me with. Help me to see how I can show others Your kindness and love by using the gifts, talents, and blessings You have given me. Amen.
