5 Things You Can Expect From God

DAY 2 OF 5

EXPECT PEACE

In a world that is full of trouble and turmoil, you need peace. And the good news is that it already belongs to you – Jesus gave it to you! He said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Now, we might think of peace as something like reclining in a lounge chair beside a pool as a gentle breeze wafts by and we sip a cool drink. But that isn’t the peace Jesus left for us. His peace isn’t on the outside; it’s on the inside! He left His peace for times of trouble or stress – for when you’re stuck in a traffic jam at 5:00 p.m., it’s 105 degrees outside, your car overheats, and the kids are screaming in the backseat.

That’s when you need supernatural peace!

No matter what’s happening around you right now, you have that peace. Expect it! Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts…” (AMP)

Let God’s peace act as your umpire. What does an umpire do? In baseball, he’s the one running the game. He’s the person who decides which player is safe and which one is out. He’s in charge, and if there is a dispute among the players or coaches, he has the final say.

Let peace be in charge of your life. There’s an old song that says: “This peace that I have, the world didn’t give it to me – the world didn’t give it and the world can’t take it away.” I love that! This peace doesn’t come from circumstances or surroundings. It comes from the inside, where the Holy Spirit abides. It comes from God.

How can you live in that peace all the time? Expect it. Keep your eyes on Jesus and on His Word. Remind yourself daily who you are in Him and where you’re seated, and you can live out that glorious peace He designed for you. It takes effort to keep your peace, but it’s worth it.

5 Things You Can Expect From God

God gives us promises in His Word. And He keeps His promises! So when He reveals something in the Bible that belongs to you in Christ, you should expect to see it manifest in your life. We call that faith. Faith is expecting to see what God has promised! This is not an exhaustive list, but here are five things you can expect from God when you believe Him:
