Debt
The concept of “debt” is something most people have grown numb to over time.
It has become the societal norm to be in debt, and many believe that you cannot move forward in life without going into debt. Proverbs 22:7 reveals how God feels about debt. God wants you to live a life of freedom, and He knows that debt will chain you down and can prohibit you from completing His work. The word “slave” brings forth terrible thoughts and images, as it should.
Just a few generations ago, people would avoid debt at all costs; some even viewed debt as a sin. We need to stand on God’s Word and know that, to lead our families well, we need to avoid debt at all costs.
What you need to decide is how you will perceive debt. Starting today, you can begin leading your family to a land free of debt. Sacrifices may need to be made, but in the end, the freedom you will have achieved is absolutely liberating. Debt can be a generational struggle; rejoice in the fact that you have the power to change the trajectory of your family tree and leave a legacy.
Question to Consider
- What could you do if, instead of paying off debt each month, you had that money to build wealth and further the kingdom?
- Making the sacrifice to get out of debt is not easy, and it is not quick. What is holding you back from attaining financial freedom?
- What actions will you commit to today to be the leader God intends you to be?
