The Vibes You Feel

The Holy Spirit is God’s Power from Heaven

The older I get, the less judgmental I am of how God deals with individuals. I understand everything has to be measured by the Scriptures. For example, I don’t see anywhere in the Bible where the Holy Spirit made anyone bark like a dog or disfigured someone’s body. But I see him speaking through a donkey or working through a gentle breeze. The Word of God highlights a variety of experiences.

J. Drew, my brother, is a man of many different experiences, and my admiration for him has helped me to treat people fairly and not judge so quickly. He’s helped me grow to see that the Holy Spirit manifests himself in different ways, which has liberated me in so many covenantal relationships. My brother keeps a prayer life and has often been frequently accurate with the suggestions, warnings, and notes of love he has shared with me along the way. Even as a young child, he has long been an observer. I’ve noticed that he watches and then chooses quietly. When I told him I was writing a book called The Vibes You Feel, he immediately agreed with the title and said, “That’s exactly what it is!” He further explained, “It’s the same thing, the Holy Spirit telling us something. We simply call it vibes.” I hadn’t told him what the book was about other than the title, yet he knew what I was doing. So this was confirmation. I call him one of my personal prophets. We laugh about it, but he often confirms things in my life.

Moments like these are things I’d encourage you to pay attention to. Some of the moments we overlook or the people we disregard are actually defining experiences we should not ignore.

For instance, someone may tell us something we need to know, but because we think we are closer to God than they are, we lessen the weight of their voices in our lives. Or have you ever noticed a vibe coming from your pet? How do they respond to certain people? Since we are spiritual beings, instead of overthinking, we should consider and note when our innermost being picks up on something.

For now, take comfort in knowing that the Holy Spirit is God’s from power heaven. He is always with us and around us. We can and do have access to the Holy Spirit’s power. We can experience him in our lives—according to the Father’s plans and purposes.
