Embracing Your Christ-Centered Character

Galatians 2:20 ~

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Our character is the way we naturally interact with the world. It becomes most clear during times of crisis and adversity.

In those challenging moments, what is your default response? Do you turn to anger or confusion, alcohol or drugs, pornography, or illicit relationships? Without a strong relationship with God, a positive attitude, and supportive Christian friends, you may resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms. Conversely, with a solid support system and a Christ-centered character, you will rely on the Holy Spirit in times of trials and struggles.

Tragedy and crisis affect everyone. Your character will either strengthen you or collapse under pressure. When life squeezes you, your true character emerges. This is true of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Job, Moses, etc.

When Christ entered your life, His nature is intertwined with yours. His presence within you grows stronger, transforming you. This change should be clear to both you and those around you, as you increasingly reflect Christ’s character and distance yourself from your old ways.

Reflect on these questions:

  1. How has your character changed since the beginning of your relationship with Christ?
  2. Are there areas in your life where Jesus is actively working, but the transformation is still ongoing? What are those areas?
  3. What practical steps can you take to become more Christ-like in your daily life?
  4. How can you allow Christ’s grace (compassion, favor, forgiveness, kindness, goodness, and love) to shine through you?
  5. What changes have others noticed in your character since you encountered Jesus?

Challenge:

Embrace the truth that the kingdom of darkness fears not merely Jesus within you, but Jesus actively working through you. Seek ways to show Christ’s love and grace to others in your daily interactions. As you do, note how these actions affect both you and those around you.

We embraced developing a Christ-centered character, which strengthens our identity, influences our attitudes, and guides us through adversity. By cultivating a Christ-like character, we build a legacy that endures and leaves a lasting impact on others.
