ZUVA 6 REMAZUVA 20

When Elijah came to choose Elisha to wear the mantle of prophet, Elisha was just living his normal life, plowing a field and preparing it to plant seed. Elijah put his cloak around Elisha, and just like that, Elisha gave up his old life. Elisha slaughtered his oxen, burned his plow, fed the people with it, said goodbye to his family, and left to follow Elijah on a great adventure. And a great adventure it was! Elisha got to see Elijah caught up to heaven in a whirlwind with chariots of fire (2 Kings 2:11-12). Elisha parted the waters of the Jordan River by tapping Elijah’s cloak (2 Kings 2:14). He got to see God multiply the widow’s oil (2 Kings 4:1-7). He delivered God’s message to a barren woman that she would bear a son (2 Kings 4:16-17). Later, when that son died, Elisha brought him back to life (2 Kings 4:22-27). Elisha got to heal the Aramean military officer Naaman (2 Kings 5:1-14). When the town he was in was surrounded by enemy armies, God showed Elisha the armies of heaven that were there to help (2 Kings 6:8-17). And friends, the same can be true for us! While we may not do all or see all that Elisha did, we can take so much from his experience. When we choose to follow God, we’re saying “yes” to a great adventure.

Today, write the word “YES” somewhere you’ll see it often. When you come across it, let it remind you that in saying “yes” to God, you’re saying “yes” to a life filled with adventure, purpose, and more gifts than you can possibly imagine.

Who Am I

How would you define what makes up your identity? Maybe you define who you are by what you do or how you perform. While all of those things may be pieces of who you are, those definitions can change. Let’s take those questions about our identity to God to see what He has to say. As we do, we’ll discover that God wants us to find our identity rooted in the firm foundation of truth—rooted in who He says we are.
