21 Days of Fasting and Prayer

DAY 5 OF 21

READ

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”—Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)

RESPOND

Get some note cards. On one side of each card, write down the most damaging things the world, culture, or other people have spoken over you or that you carry around. Under each word, write the internal script that this label has created for you. On the other side of the card, write the label God has given you in Christ that counters it and the verse that declares it. As you go about your fast this week, begin to speak the truth of God’s Word and your identity in Christ, which we learn about yesterday, and what He says about you in these areas.

PRAY

Father, I pray that through the remaining days of this fast, You would work in my heart to dispel and remove any false identities or lies I’ve clung to from the enemy as You help me to know You and my identity in You more fully. And in light of that, I pray I may begin to live more confidently and fully each day in the identity You have given me in Christ. I know You have set me free already, Lord, from all bonds—that You have broken every chain in Christ. But I pray that by Your Spirit and Word, that You would help me truly walk in the freedom Christ died to give me. Amen.
