Questions Jesus Asked

ZUVA 3 REMAZUVA 5

If Jesus asked today, “What can I do for you?” What would you say?

Jesus asked this question twice.

In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, we read of two blind men making a noisy scene among a crowd, attempting to reach Jesus. These blind men must have heard of Jesus’ healings from passers-by who spoke of them and other miracles. These blind men recognized Him in their hearts.

At the sound of Jesus’ name, Bartimaeus, one of the blind men, desperately sought Jesus through the crowd. Jesus heard him shout His name, despite others in the crowd telling the blind men to go away. Jesus heard the men and asked them to come to Him.

Knowing what they would say, Jesus asked them, “What can I do for you?” Bartimaeus was ready with an answer. With faith, he said: “Lord, I want to see.” Not only did Jesus heal him but He acknowledged his faith.

Jesus always knows our needs. He allowed the two men to personally share their requests with Him. Throughout the Gospels, we read stories of Jesus journeying throughout the region with His disciples. Jesus intentionally met individuals along His routes who He knew needed to see Him. He was desiring to heal, forgive and show compassion toward them. He made Himself available.

He is not any different today. He finds us when we are lost or brokenhearted. He doesn't dismiss our troubles, but rather, guides us towards His loving arms.

In Mark 10:35-40, James and John, disciples of Jesus, approached Him with a question. “Teacher,” they said, “We want You to do for us whatever we ask.”

Their bold question to Jesus shows how approachable Jesus was.

Jesus replied, “What do you want Me to do for you?” They wanted to sit at the sides of God’s throne. Jesus told them they didn’t understand the sacrificial significance of their request.

No matter how big our request, we can be confident that He hears us and that His Spirit is with us.

What do you want Jesus to do in your heart and life today? Have you told Jesus about your needs?
