God's Promises

DAY 5 OF 21

HE GIVES ME HOPE

While driving downtown, my eight-year-old daughter asked me, "What happened for them to be sleeping outside?” I looked out the side window where there were people experiencing homelessness. I began listing different circumstances: unforeseen tragedy, job loss, poor choices, and addiction…. The list casually grew.

As we pulled up to the next stoplight, a man slouched near a brick building with a blank stare. I whispered to my daughter, "Most of all, baby, they lost hope."

You may not be experiencing homelessness, be an addict, or be consumed by loss - a sense of failure - or maybe, you are… We all at one time have felt hopelessness, this blanket of darkness. It's not IF we will have seasons of hopelessness, but when. The goal is to not stay planted there.

Don’t lose hope! Psalms 62:5-6 says, "Find rest, oh my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken."

Don't allow this world to shake you, inflict fear, or leave you feeling inadequate. Instead, keep your eyes on what is eternal and surrender your feelings of hopelessness to God.

Surrender. Fast. Pray. Let Him be your fortress. Let Him be your hope.

About this Plan

God's Promises

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with your whole heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13) This is a promise that God gave His people 2,600 years ago. It was a promise that the effort to pursue God would be rewarded with finding Him. For the next 21 days, we will pray and fast as we seek our Lord. He is our Promise Keeper.
