How to Learn & Grow Together: Encouragement for the Weary Homeschool MotherChikamu
What Has God Said?
I was 39 weeks pregnant with my eldest daughter. We didn’t know the gender of our baby yet, but I was convinced I was carrying a girl. I woke up in the night, which isn’t unusual for a woman who is heavy with child, but this scenario felt different. I knew it was more than a full bladder that awoke me, so I decided to sit down at my computer.
Have you ever had a download from God? I opened up a Word document and just started to type. God whispered into my heart treasured words about my daughter. I tapped, tapped, tapped on the keyboard, whispers of who she would be and what she would stand for. It was a blubbering, beautiful moment which, just as Mary did, I treasured in my heart.
I have a journal for each of my children to collect words, encouragement, and memories from their early life, but interestingly as they have become older, I have used those journals filled with words to wield like a sword in battle. In the verse from 1 Timothy, the apostle Paul reminds his spiritual son of the words spoken over his life. Paul encourages Timothy to use these prophecies to fight the battles he may face; “use your prophecies as weapons as you wage spiritual warfare.” What has God said to you about your children, your home, and your homeschool?
Encouragement
Take those words and whispers hidden in your heart and turn them into prayers. Spend some time praying for your children. Remember God's words, and listen to His heart for them this season.
