Here I Am, Lord: Devotions from Time of GraceChikamu
What a Thrill to See My Kids Worshiping You
Lord, you know I love my kids. I love ’em even when they’re naughty, even when I’m grouchy and irritable, even when they disappoint me, especially when they disappoint me. When I see their acts and words of rebellion against you, I feel fear gnawing at my heart. What if they grow up to be unbelievers? What if they recklessly throw away their faith?
That’s why it is such ecstasy to hear their words of worship and see their faith-deeds. What pleasure it is to sit with them in church and see them engaged. I love to hear their voices singing. I love to discuss with them what we learned as we travel home. I share your Palm Sunday (and Palm Monday) thrill at the sight and sound of children worshiping their God: “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise” (Psalm 8:2 and Matthew 21:16). Their hosannas matter.
I hope to leave my children a legacy, a noble inheritance. I hope to leave them financial assets when I pass on to help stabilize their finances. I hope to have passed on a moral legacy, a decent and honorable way to live. I hope to have taught them to love their country and their community. Most of all, I hope that my faith in you will live on in their hearts.

About this Plan
God knows that our tongues and brains sometimes lack the words to say, and so he provided the beautiful book of Psalms in his Word to provide vocabulary for us to bring our thoughts and concerns to him. These devotions, one for each day of the month, use psalms to help you voice your needs and hurts and joys to the Lord.
