The Power in His Name - Knowing the power in Jesus’ name
Power is the ability or capacity to do something or act in a particular way. Another definition of power is the ability or capacity to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events. The Bible talks about the specific power of Jesus; that God has placed all things under His feet, that He is the head of the church, that all authority has been given to Him, that He is in the highest, most exalted place, and that His name is above all names (Ephesians 1:19-23, Matthew 28:18, Philippians 2:9). Now Jesus, who has all this power, unlike any other, turns to us and says if we ask in His name, HE WILL DO IT! How amazing is it to know that this is available to us?
When we ask our friends for help, we are putting our trust in their power, their ability, or capacity to deliver our request. How much more can we trust and rely in His power seen in the portions above? Jesus says that when we ask in His name He will deliver, because when we ask in His name, we are recognizing who He is, affirming our belief that He holds all the power and authority, and ask aligning our requests to His mighty and perfect character.
Prayer -
• Open my eyes to see more of who You really are, Jesus
• If it be your desire, fulfill the desires of my heart and what I’m believing for in Jesus’ name
Thanksgiving -
• Thank you, God, for your power that you’ve made accessible to me
• Thank you, Jesus, for who you are, what you have done, and that through you I can approach as a son/a daughter
• Thank you, God, for answering what I ask in Jesus’ name according to your perfect will
