The Power of Faith Chikamu
WHEN THE BLIND CAN SEE
Moody told this story in one of his sermons. One afternoon before Christmas, a man was walking through the streets of one of the towns. The shop windows were beautifully decorated, and he noticed that three little girls were very interested in one of the decorations. The man discovered that the girl standing in the middle was blind. The other girls tried to explain the beauty of things they saw in the shop windows. "Oh," they said. "Can't you see the teddy bear and the stuffed animal? Just look at that girl doll wearing a pretty pink dress!"
But the poor girl just stood with a blank look on her face and could not appreciate the beautiful things that lay before her. "Now," said Moody, "this is a picture of the effort made by us Christians to arouse the unbeliever's interest in the beauty and delight in spiritual things. We cannot do this because those who do not believe in God are spiritually blind by nature.” He then quoted 1 Corinthians 2:14, “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
Moody was just closing the conversation when an unbelieving reporter asked where Moody had heard the story. "Oh," said Moody. "I read this story in one of the newspapers. But I forgot which newspaper." "Then," said the reporter, "I wrote the story, and I was the man who saw the blind girl. I now realize that I am spiritually blind." The man repented there.
Today’s devotional:
Faith cannot be limited by what we see with our eyes. Faith challenges us to see with our spiritual eyes that Jesus can do great things in our lives. Have we asked Him to open our spiritual eyes? Look at the magic of our lives.
Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible (Corrie Ten Boom).
